Intermittent fasting...

Intermittent fasting, or IF, is a dieting strategy in which people cycle between periods of eating and fasting. The idea behind IF is that by limiting the amount of time you spend eating, you allow your body to focus on healing and repairing itself, rather than constantly processing food.

The image for this blog is ironically, incorrect. Right at the beginning of the fast, you can be ravenously hungry, but this hunger goes away very rapidly. In fact, I feel much fuller when I am fasting then at any other time. It's amazing really.

There are a few different ways to do intermittent fasting, but one of the most popular methods is to fast for 16 hours and then eat during an 8-hour feeding window. This is called the 16/8 method. However, many people choose to take things a step further and fast for longer periods of time, like 24, 36, or even 72 hours.

Longer fasting periods like these allow your body to enter a state of ketosis, in which it burns fat for energy instead of glucose. When your body burns fat for fuel, it can help you lose weight more quickly than with other weight-loss diets.

There are a few things to keep in mind if you're considering longer-period fasts. First, it's important to consult with a doctor or dietician before beginning any new diet or fasting routine. Second, it's important to stay hydrated during your fasts, drinking plenty of water and electrolytes.

It's also important to be mindful of how you break your fast when you do eat. You don't want to binge on junk food or overeat after a long fast, as it can undo all the progress you've made. Instead, try starting with small, nutritious meals to ease your body back into eating.

Overall, longer period fasts can be an effective way to lose weight and improve overall health. If you're considering it, just make sure to do your research and talk to a healthcare professional before you start.
